Now in its 14th year, the Long Island Pride
Sports Association remains true to its original
multi-level mission:

To support and develop the participation of
amateur athletes, regardless of sexual
orientation, race, sex, religion, disability or
ethnic origin, that are residents of Nassau and
Suffolk Counties, New York, in athletic
competition on local, national and
international levels; to educate public opinion
concerning the ability of gay athletes, and
thereby to foster the elimination of prejudice
and discrimination towards the gay and
lesbian community; to be a source of self
esteem and pride for its members, and in
particular for young people in need of role
models; to educate and instruct and/or train
the individual members for the purpose of
improving or developing each member’s
capabilities; and to lessen community tensions
through athletic competition.
